Billabong Crafts began with a love of making — one tiny piece at a time. What started as handmade polymer clay charms and jewellery has gradually grown into a Melbourne-designed gift and souvenir brand, shaped by creativity, storytelling and the people we have met along the way.
Our journey began with handmade polymer clay charms and jewellery. Every piece was shaped, assembled and finished by hand, allowing us to explore colour, character and the joy that small, meaningful objects can bring.
The Melbourne Music Box marked an important step forward. It was one of our first products to bring together local identity, thoughtful design and the feeling of taking a small piece of Melbourne home.
This helped define the direction of Billabong Crafts: creating products that allow visitors to remember the joy of Australia and locals to celebrate the beauty of everyday life here.
Next came Mini Gallery — a playful collection in which beloved Australian animals step into the world of art.
The collection expanded our brand beyond individual products and into visual storytelling. It introduced a distinctive Billabong Crafts style: recognisably Australian, gently humorous and designed to create an emotional connection.
In December 2025, we opened our regular market stall at the Queen Victoria Market.
Meeting customers face-to-face transformed the way our brand developed. Their stories, reactions and favourite designs helped us understand what makes a souvenir meaningful — not simply the place it represents, but the memory and emotion attached to it.
Over time, our stall grew into a carefully curated space in the heart of the Queen Victoria Market.
It became more than somewhere to sell products. It became a small world filled with original characters, Australian stories, Melbourne memories and gifts selected to make people smile.
We were honoured to have our stall included as a stop on guided tours of the Queen Victoria Market and to be featured on the market’s website.
This recognition was especially meaningful to us. The Queen Victoria Market is not only where we trade — it has become part of our identity and an important chapter in the Billabong Crafts story.
Our journey then began extending beyond Victoria through wholesale partnerships with independent gift shops in Darwin and Cairns.
Seeing our designs travel to new places was an exciting milestone. It showed us that products created from our little corner of Melbourne could connect with customers across Australia.
Today, we are taking our next major step at Reed Gift Fairs.
Here, Billabong Crafts is meeting retailers from Gippsland, Launceston, Halls Gap, Foster and beyond — opening new conversations, building partnerships and bringing our Melbourne-designed collections to more communities across Australia.
